Mortgage Express is another subsidiary of the Bradford and Bingley; and was set up to offer more modern, convenient mortgages; as such they all offer some flexibility to over or underpay; no mortgage indemnity premium, and a guaranteed link to the Base Rate (if base rates change, your mortgage rate definitely will too).
Fees are fairly high, but clear from the outset- a completion will cost upwards of £325, plus switching fees (e.g. from discounted to fixed) of £100 upwards, and like most lenders, a percentage fee for any capital repayments you make. All loans have clear fee structures shown on-site.
The range of products is excellent, with a Mortgage Express mortgage for a broader range of circumstances than was available five to ten years ago; including buy-to-let, "let and buy" (specifically for people relocating for work- it's like buy-to-let but recognises you were forced to move rather than making an investment decision), 100% mortgages, self certification, and even a mortgage specifically for negative equity homeowners.
